JAVIER CALLEJA - ONE TRUE TREE FOR

MADFABER

Produced for Javier Calleja Studio by madFaber, we made a large bronze sculpture with glass eyes and 3 tentetieso roly-poly toys for his debut exhibition at Almine Reich New York.

I developed the 3D files alongside the artists digital sculptor to produce files that were correct for fabrication.

I made small maquettes of the pieces which were used to review and iterate the designs.

For the large bronze sculpture I segmented the files for production in porex which was later used for sandcasting the bronze. I also designed the eyes which had a specific taper on the back to slide into the bronze. The files were sent to a specialist glass maker. I also machined two bronze eye rings which the taper of the glass eye couples perfectly with. These rings were welded into the rest of the bronze sculpture.

Small intricate parts such as the zip I 3D printed in wax in high resolution.

For the toys, I prepared the 3D files for them to be used in the mold making process by segmenting them in specific forms and including mold keys so the cast parts fit together. I then 3D printed the 3D models and molds were made. Additionally I designed the glass eyes for the toys.
